Meet Jerry

He was my once in a lifetime, my faithful steed. He came to me when I was 16 and needed him most, without him I don’t even know if I’d still be riding. He took me from crossrails to 4’ and taught me so much. Even through the last 8 years of retirement with me, he really was my everything. I was in the Netherlands during grad school for an art fair, and overheard a woman greeting her friend on the street that she clearly hadn’t seen in a while, and she introduced her to her husband by saying, “this is my beloved”. It struck me as a beautiful way to convey an intense and deep connection. “Beloved” is the best way that I can describe what Jerry meant to me. Thank you for painting Porter and agreeing to paint Jerry, you have no idea how much this means to me! I know that they’re together happily grazing and causing mischief, but I miss them both terribly. The three of us had such a phenomenal, unique, familial bond. Can’t wait to see the magic that you create with Jerjer’s portrait!
