Shorty is a horse that I started riding when I was dealing with a lot of issues. I was halfway through law school, and at the time, I was trying to figure out what to do with life while coping with problems. Shorty was about 45 minutes away from school, and despite that fact, I had never been to see him during the three prior semesters of law school. My dad was kind enough to tell me to go see the horse, and before I knew it, I was out every week, sometimes twice a week, escaping from the world. Shorty taught me a lot when it comes to riding western (mostly in part because I never rode western before him), but he also provided me with a safe place. He helped me to be more confident in my abilities, and we have since won two national championships together.
