Holding Light

Soft forms that gather and carry a sense of warmth

This art was made in the margins of my life, and the margins of my paper.

While pregnant with my third baby, I carried a small watercolor set everywhere. As I painted, the page beneath would catch the extra paint: soft, unintentional marks that began to form their own quiet, beautiful compositions.

In those slow, tender months before and after her birth, I kept painting while holding my baby close. These gentle abstracts felt like little windows of light, born in the in-between, in the resting, in the becoming. Holding light.
